The first-ever live Short Deck Ante-Only tournament as part of the 2018 Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro high stakes festival attracted a field of 61 entries for the HKD$ 250,000 Short Deck Ante-Only Side Event at the Maestral Resort & Casino in Budva, Montenegro. After more than 13 levels of play on Day 1, the bubble burst and the remaining nine players all locked up a portion of the HKD$14,347,200 prize pool (~$ 1,827,900).
Leading the field into the final day is Alan Sass with 2,775,000, but he will face tough competition, as three superstars of the international poker scene are still in contention for the title and first place payout of HKD$4,749,200 (~$604,977) with Dan Cates (2,670,000), Jason Koon (2,495,000) and Phil Ivey (1,800,000). They are joined by Gabe Patgorski (2,575,000), Ivan Leow (2,070,000), 2016 Triton Super High Roller Series Manila Main Event champion Wai Kin Yong (1,970,000), Furkat Rakhimov (1,190,000) and Mikhail Smirnov (900,000).

The action is set to resume at 1 p.m. local time with just over 30 minutes left in level 13 with an ante of 20,000 and button double ante of 40,000. For the first time, Triton Poker is also hosting a live stream on their Twitch channel with English commentary by Kane Kalas and Randy Lew, along with further streams in Russian and Chinese.

Over on the outer table, in the second hand of the day, Dan Cates limped in. Gabe Patgorski raised to 200,000 and Jason Koon called on the button, as did Cates. On the flop, Cates checked and Patgorski bet 350,000. Koon moved all in and that forced both opponents out.
Soon after, Cates and Koon tangled in another pot to the river. Koon bet 250,000 for more than the pot and Cates was in the think tank. "Did you have your cold shower?" Koon asked, but Cates shook his head. "Ah, so you can't make your best decision yet. Gabe made a great decision with the fold earlier," Koon added. Cates took another half a minute and called.
Koon announced ten-high and Cates won the pot with for a full house. "I had my workout," Cates added and Koon grinned back with a "ah damn, I shouldn't have bluffed then."

Over on the outer table another big pot was brewing and the board was already complete, showing . Dan Cates checked in the cutoff and Gabe Patgorski on the button made it 175,000 to go. Cates check-raised to one million and that sent Patgorski into the think tank.
After giving it some consideration, he added "sorry guys, last minute." Patgorski then called and Cates mucked his cards, Patgorski flashed the before raking in the big pot.

Over on the outer table, Jason Koon raised to 160,000 first to act and Gabe Patgorski called in the cutoff. Mikhail Smirnov moved all in for his last 650,000 on the button and Koon sighed "Gabe ruined my plan" before sending his cards into the muck, Patgorski called instantly.
