It’s nearly game time here at PokerStars LIVE Macau with Day 2 of the PokerStars Championship Macau about to start. Players are in the midst of taking their seats and most have already unbagged their chips, aside from those who are coming in fresh as entry is still open for the first two levels — until around 4:30pm local time (GMT+7).
Entrants will be battling it out over six 75-minute levels with play finishing around 10pm so players can finish in time for the PokerStars Players Party, which kicks off at the fabled Pacha nightclub at 11pm.
That may result in a few sore heads tomorrow for Day 3, though some players may well be drowning their sorrows, the ones who fail to make the cut at any rate.
Cards are now in the air so stay with us for more tournament excitement and adventure as we see who has got what it takes to go the distance.
Dan Smith was one of the players to take advantage of registration being open at the start of Day 2. He just took his seat for the first time in this tournament.
We caught up with a hand he was in while the action was at the turn with on the table. One player checked, another bet 3,700, and Smith called, as did the other player.
The river was the and all three players checked. The first showed , the second mucked, and Smith flipped up . Their kickers didn't play, so the pot was chopped between two of the three players.

Fresh off a sixth-place finish two weeks ago at the PokerStars Championship Panama Main Event, Anthony Diotte has made his way to Macau to seek another final table and perhaps a major title.
In a recent hand, Diotte opened to 1,300 from early position getting calls from the player on the button and the big blind.
The three checked down a board and Diotte claimed the pot with a bet of 4,300 on the river.

Fresh from his deep run the HK$206,000 Single Re-entry Shot Clock event where he earned himself HK$ 778,000 (~US$ 100,124) for a sixth place finish, David Peters opened the action with a raise to 1,500 from under-the-gun.
Direct neighbor Carlos Sarmiento made the call and Feng Wen Chen shot them both a hawk-like stare from the button and mulled it over but elected not to call and we go heads-up to an flop.
Peters cuts a serene figure at the table and calmly takes his time over every decision and this is no exception, he thought it over for around 30-seconds or so before deciding the right amount to lead out for was 2,700.
Sarmiento looked interested and counted out the call and the dealer peeled off the turn. This brings a slightly longer visit to the think tank from Peters, who fired a second barrel, this one a slightly larger bet of 5,700.
This is enough to make Sarmiento lose interest and Peters rakes in his first pot of the day.
Australia’s Billy the Croc Argyros is another who has started his Main Event in the right way, opening the action to 1,800 from the button and Siyou Cao decided to take a gander at a flop from the big blind and made the call.
Cao decided to take the betting lead on the flop, firing out 2,100 and Argyros called without much hesitation.
Both players checked the turn and the landed on the river. Cao evidently doesn’t like it and checked it over to Argyros, who figured 4,600 was a reasonable bet. Cao, however, does not look interested in paying him off and throws his hand away.

Fabrice Soulier started the day with 77,000. We noted his seat draw early on as he was tablemates with big stacks Yao Meng, Ryan Yu, and Kitty Kuo as well.
A stroll past French pro just 30 minutes later had our eyes drawn to his massive chip stack.
We caught him in a hand moments ago. Soulier three-bet a raise from the player on the button to 4,200 and was met with a call. The flop came and Soulier led out with a bet of 3,600. Also called.
The hit on the turn and both players checked to the on the river. Soulier fired a bet worth 4,900 and after a moment, his opponent called. Soulier tabled and his opponent mucked.
