Mustapha Kanit Bags Huge on Day 2 of $10,000 High Roller

Nível 18 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

The action has come to an end after a scheduled 10 levels of play on Day 2 of the $10,000 High Roller at the Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas. Only 28 players remain as the field approaches the money bubble and Mustapha Kanit has an overwhelming chip lead.

Kanit took advantage of the late registration that was open on Day 2 and joined the field in the early levels today. He slowly built up his chips to an average stack by the time dinner break rolled around and from there, the Frenchman took off. In the last level of the night, Kanit busted Simon Higgins who held the chip lead earlier in the day. By the day's end, Kanit bagged up 21,520,000 which was by far and away the largest stack in the tournament.

Some of the other big stacks heading into the final day of play include partypoker pro Joao Simao, who racked up 14,290,000 chips, good enough for second place. Adrian Mateos entered the day as the chip leader and showed no signs of slowing down, increasing his stack to 13,305,000. There were two other partypoker pros to move on to Day 3 with Roberto Romanello amassing a stack of 11,300,000 and Isaac Haxton with 5,005,000.

The day began with 59 players returning from Day 1 but late registration was open for the first four levels. The $1,000,000 guaranteed prizepool was easily surpassed in the early going. In fact, by the time late registration was closed, that number had nearly doubled with a total of 196 entries.

Many players were forced to fire multiple bullets looking to run up a stack that they would be happy with, but many of those failed. Some of the early eliminations belonged to Martin Jacobson, Darren Elias, Kristen Bicknell, Ryan Riess, Ben Tollerene, Patrik Antonius, and Fedor Holz. For Leon Tsoukernik, he managed to last a little longer but it took him seven entries. Unfortunately for him, he still wasn't able to stick around for very long as Justin Bonomo sent him to the rail.

The eliminations were occurring at a rapid pace for the first couple levels, but the dinner break seemed to bring things to a halt. Just 46 players returned after getting some food, but the average stack was upwards of nearly 80 big blinds. The money bubble was in sight, but nobody was willing to budge to make it a reality. In the last four levels of the night, only 18 players were eliminated leaving the money bubble still in the distance.

When the remaining 28 players return tomorrow, they can look forward to a long grind in order to claim the title. The first obstacle will be to burst the money bubble with 23 places getting paid. A min-cash will be worth $20,000 and then everyone can focus on the first-place prize of $450,000. The action will get underway at 1 p.m. with the blinds at 60,000/120,000 and a 120,000 big blind ante. The levels will continue to be 60-minutes in length and they will be playing down to a winner.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you coverage of the event to wrap things up here at the 2018 Caribbean Poker Party.

Kisacikoglu Calls Down O'Dwyer

Nível 18 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Orpen Kisacikoglu
Orpen Kisacikoglu

The action folded to Orpen Kisacikoglu on the button who raised it up and Steve O'Dwyer defended from the big blind. The flop came {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts} and both players checked to the {7-Clubs} on the turn.

O'Dwyer led out for 375,000 and Kisacikoglu stuck around to see the {9-Spades} on the river. O'Dwyer fired another 800,000 and Kisacikoglu took a moment before making the call again. O'Dwyer tabled {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for a missed flush draw and Kisacikoglu rivered a better hand with {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

Mustapha Kanit has vaulted himself into the chip lead with a massive stack of over 21 million chips. Kanit just recently eliminated Simon Higgins who once held the chip lead himself.

Simao Runs Out a Flush

Nível 16 : 35,000/70,000, 70,000 ante
Joao Simao
Joao Simao

On a board reading {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}, Joao Simao had his cards face up in front of him. Simao held {a-Spades}{7-Spades} for the nut flush against Peter Jetten's {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} in what was another massive pot. Simao's flush earned him the pot and Jetten headed to the rail.

There are just 37 players remaining mid-way through level 16. The players will go on their last break of the night shortly and then play two more tables before bagging up for the night.

Bonomo Eliminates Tsoukernik for Good

Nível 15 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Leon Tsoukernik
Leon Tsoukernik

Leon Tsoukernik had a rough go at things today on the felt, firing up a total of seven bullets before the late registration period ended. Although he didn't have a huge stack in front of him, Tsoukernik found himself in the middle of a healthy-sized pot. Justin Bonomo opened to 130,000 in early position and was called by Simon Higgins in middle position, Manig Loeser in the cutoff, and Tsoukernik on the button.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and the action checked to Tsoukernik who bet 275,000. Bonomo and Higgins called while Loeser got out of the way. The turn was the {8-Clubs} and again, the action checked to Tsoukernik. This time, he shoved all in for 1,140,000 and Bonomo made the call after asking for a count.

Tsoukernik turned over {q-Spades}{j-Clubs} which was the best hand for now against the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} of Bonomo. The {9-Diamonds} rolled off on the river and while both players made a straight, Bonomo also made a flush to eliminate Tsoukernik for the final time.

Troyanovskiy Turns Yu to the Rail

Nível 11 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Vladimir Troyanovskiy
Vladimir Troyanovskiy

On a board reading {a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, Ben Yu and Vladimir Troyanovskiy were heads-up in the pot. Yu checked to Troyanovskiy who bet 250,000 into a pot of around 400,000. Yu called and the {3-Clubs} completed the board.

Yu checked again and Troyanovskiy moved all in, putting Yu to the test for his remaining 450,000. Yu thought for a minute and made the call, quickly turning over {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Troyanovskiy tabled {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for two pair and sent Yu to the rail.

Some more names to make their way into the mix include Ben Tollerene, Mike Leah, Cary Katz, Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier. There are now 85 players remaining of the 162 total entries.

Another Stacked Field for Day 2 of $10,000 High Roller

$10,000 High Roller
$10,000 High Roller

The story of the 2018 Caribbean Poker Party thus far has been the quality of players taking a seat in each of the tournaments. Things haven't changed for the $10,000 High Roller as the field is packed with notables looking for one big score before their trip comes to an end.

Coming into Day 2, there are plenty of familiar names at the top of the leaderboard including Adrian Mateos who bagged the lead with 4,015,000 chips. Mateos plays all of the big buy-in events and already has quite the poker resume with over $16 million in career earnings at the ripe age of 24. Some other familiar names with big stacks include Guillaume Diaz (3,825,000), Joseph Cheong (3,730,000), Dominik Nitsche (3,220,000), and Laszlo Bujtas (3,010,000) as the only players over 3,000,000 chips.

There are also a few partypoker pros still in the mix with Isaac Haxton once again leading the way. Haxton is trying to recover from narrowly missing out on the money in the $250,000 Super High Roller and he did so by running up a stack of 2,725,000. Kristen Bicknell joined the field late on Day 1 but managed to win a flip against Niall Farrell which helped her put 1,535,000 in the bag. Roberto Romanello (1,300,000) and Anatoly Filatov (855,000) will also be returning for Day 2.

The action is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m. local time with 10 levels on the docket for the day. Late registration will remain open for the first four levels which should be plenty of time to reach the $1,000,000 guaranteed prizepool. The players will return to the blinds at 10,000/25,000 with a 25,000 big blind ante. Follow along with the PokerNews live reporting team as we bring you the partypoker specific coverage throughout the event.
