Welcome to Day 1d of the £5,300 partypokerLIVE MILLIONS Main Event

partypoker LIVE MILLIONS
partypoker LIVE MILLIONS

The partypoker LIVE MILLIONS festival at the Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham is unlike most other poker festivals, and not just because of the stunning guaranteed prize pool of £6m and £1m first-place payout for its flagship event, the £5,300 Main Event. Widely considered as the home of poker in the United Kingdom and one of the biggest cardrooms in Europe, the Dusk Till Dawn and online poker operator partypoker have created a unique hybrid between online and live poker.

Players have already qualified for the Main Event through a £500+50 Online Phase 1 on the partypoker platform, as well as via one of their live partners. This includes Dusk Till Dawn, but also other venues across Europe such as San Remo, Vienna and St. Vincent. All qualifiers then carry over their accumulated chips into a £5,300 Live Day 1 at the same venue, in which players can also buy in directly in order to receive 1,000,000 chips with an initial blind level of 2,500-5,000 and a running ante of 500.

Each Live Day 1 plays a total of ten hour-long levels, with the remaining players bagging up their chips into their respective Live Day 2. Registration remains open for another two levels into Day 2 until approximately 3.50 p.m. local time on Thursday, April 20th at Dusk Till Dawn. There have, however, already been qualifiers for Day 3 in St. Vincent, Vienna and San Remo, and those players will join the action at Dusk Till Dawn on Friday April 21st at 1pm local time when the entire remaining field plays to a finish across the weekend.

Here is the live Day 1 level structure:

There have already been two Live Day 1s at the Dusk Till Dawn and the PokerNews live reporting team picks up the action in today's Day 1d which begins at 2 pm local time as well as tomorrow's Day 1e, before providing updates until a champion and new millionaire is crowned this upcoming Sunday.

We'll have all the action from kick off as many big name players look set to join the ever-growing Day 1 field.

Play Under Way After a Delay

Nível 20 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

De-bagging took a little longer than expected with the various online and Phase 1 qualifiers to organise. Players are now in their seats, however and play has begun.

There will be ten levels today, with the blinds rolled back to 2,500/500/500 for the next 60 minutes.

Sanchez Heroed by Holloway

Nível 20 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Stephen Holloway and ex-footballer and manager Lawrie Sanchez have clashed in an early hand on Day 1d here at Dusk Till Dawn.

We joined the action post-flop to find Sanche betting 15,000 into a pot of around 35,000 with the cards showing {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts} . Holloway called and the two both checked the {6-Diamonds} turn. On the river card of 4h, however, Sanchez led for 30,000.

Holloway went into the tank, but emerged with a call, and his {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} was good enough to beat Sanchez' {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}. While Holloway won the hand and improves his stack to 325,000, he's still some way behind Sanchez's count of 500,000. For now.

Warburton Joins Day 1

Nível 20 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Steven Warburton decided not to re-enter the £10,300 High Roller that he busted last night to Max Silver and is in the Main Event instead. He's sat on a table with partypoker ambassador Natalia Breviglieri. She won't be the only ambassador looking to spoil us with some tip-top poker, as former WSOP bracelet winner Tony Dunst is already in his seat.

Three other partypoker pros are still in the High Roller, with Joao Simao, Sam Trickett and Roberto Romanello looking to grab the lions share of the £1,000,000 prize-pool in with the sharks before swapping felts to join the #partypokerLIVE MILLIONS Main Event.

Willis Takes Some From Kellett

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante

Jonty Willis raised pre-flop from the button after the player in the hijack position made it 11,000 and got a call from Richard Kellett in the cut-off. Willis bumped it to 40,000 and only Kellett called.

On the flop of {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, Kellett bet 38,000, but Willis raised to 95,000 and got an eventual fold. Willis smiled ruefully, turning over {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. Despite not being paid any more, Willis is up to 1.35m already, with Kellett dropping below the 'direct buy-in' stack of 1,000,000.

Mighall Mighty

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante

Phil Mighall is more likely to limp that most players this week at Dusk till Dawn, and that has nothing to do with any kind of poker passivity. He has broken not one foot but two and his seat at the table is therefore unlikely to be a comfortable one until Sunday. He won't mind a bit if he can scoop the £1million top prize in the final of the partypokerLIVE MILLIONS Main Event.

That would be quite a....ahem, feat, but Mighall is one 'step' closer to that prize after the latest hand he played. Opening to 13,000 from middle position, Mighall was called by Danny Toffel in the small blind and Craig Varnell in the big blind.

The flop of {3-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts} saw Mighall make it 18,000 to go after two checks from his opponents. Only Toffel called and the two men saw a turn of {4-Diamonds} and Toffel checked for a second time post-flop. Mighall bet 55,000 and still got a call.

On the {6-Hearts} river, Toffel check-called again, this time to 175,000. Mighall turned over {A-Clubs}{3-Spades} and that was enough for Toffel to toss his cards in the muck. The two players have wildly different stack-sizes.

Carrel Out and In

Nível 21 : 3,000/6,000, 600 ante

Charlie Carrel may have busted the £10,300 High Roller but he's hopped straight into the £5,300 #partypokerLIVE MILLIONS Main Event.

"I didn't want to get in Ben [Heath]'s way," he joked, "He's crushing it right now."

Heath is not the only one. Carrel sat down with a million chips - what you get for your £5,300 direct buy-in here on Day 1d - and already has 1.35million.
