Konstas Leads 26 Remaining Players after Day 3; Kempe and Boatman Still in the Hunt

Nível 24 : 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante
Rainer Kempe
Rainer Kempe

At the beginning of Day 3, 135 players took their seats in the $1,100 MILLIONS Open at the Caribbean Poker Party Festival, but just 26 bagged chips at the conclusion of play. Greek player Ioannis Angelou-Konstas is leading the way with 71,800,000, and nipping at his heels are Germans Paul Michaelis (68,100,000) and Rainer Kempe (66,500,000). Pavel Plesuv (63,200,000) currently sits in fourth position, and Vincent Tremblay (63,000,000) rounds out the top five. Beloved Brit Barny Boatman is also still in the hunt with a stack of 19,000,000. The remaining 26 players are all guaranteed at least $6,000, but all eyes are on the $200,000 top prize.

A total of 95 places were paid and money bubble burst near the end of level 19. Several well-known players who fell before the day's end made the money, including Mike Leah (32nd), partypoker Sponsored Pro Natalia Breviglieri (33rd), Michael Watson (44th), Stefan Schillhabel (55th), Tom Marchese (76th), and partypoker Sponsored Pro Kristen Bicknell (84th). Manig Loeser, Iaron Lightbourne, Dylan Wilkerson, and team partypoker online pro Louise Butler all made their exits on Day 3 before the bubble broke.

The remainder of the field is scheduled to play down to a winner Tuesday on Day 4, which will begin at noon local time. Blinds will be 400,000/800,000 when play resumes. As with previous days in this event, each level will be one hour long and there will be a 20-minute break every two levels. Once heads-up play is reached, the levels will be shortened to 30 minutes.

The Day 4 seat draw can be found below.

Partypoker Sponsored Pro Natalia Breviglieri was in early position and got her stack in before the flop against Vincent Tremblay, who was in the big blind.

Breviglieri: {A-}{Q-}
Tremblay: {8-}{8-}

Breviglieri was flipping for her tournament life and needed to improve in order to double up. Tremblay's pocket pair was still best after the board ran out {J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{K-Clubs} so he took the pot to end Breviglieri's run in this tournament.

Breviglieri Stacks Karlic

Nível 21 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Natalia Breviglieri
Natalia Breviglieri

All the action was completed and the cards were already on their backs when we arrived at the table. The board read {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-}{10-}, Gerald Karlic had {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, and partypoker Sponsored Pro Natalia Breviglieri had {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. Breviglieri informed us that she had opened with a raise to 650,000 before the flop, Karlic called from the button, and the big blind also called.

On the flop, the big blind checked, Breviglieri bet 925,000, Karlic called, and the big blind folded.

On the turn, Breviglieri bet enough to put Karlic to a decision for the remainder of his stack and he called to put himself at risk only to see that he was trailing Breviglieri's aces.

Karlic, who had been the chip leader at the start of Day 3, needed to improve on the river to stay alive. However, he failed to do so, and Breviglieri took the pot to end his run in this event.

Kempe Takes a Huge Pot from Schillhabel

Nível 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Rainer Kempe
Rainer Kempe

The PokerNews Live Reporting team was informed that in a hand just before the break, Rainer Kempe opened to 350,000 from the hijack and Stefan Schillhabel called from the big blind.

The flop came {Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-} and each player put in 775,000.

The turn brought an offsuit {8-} and both players checked.

An offsuit {9-} fell on the river and Schillhabel bet 3,500,000. Kempe raised to 10,700,000 and Schillhabel called after some consideration. Kempe held {Q-}{Q-} for flopped top boat and Schillhabel mucked.

Schillhabel Doubles Through Karlic to Become the Chip Leader

Nível 17 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Stefan Schillhabel
Stefan Schillhabel

There was about 1,000,000 already in the pot and the board read {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts} when we got the the table. Gerald Karlic was in late middle position and heads-up against Stefan Schillhabel, who was on the button. Karlic checked, Schillhabel bet 470,000, and Karlic called.

The turn brought the {2-Hearts} and both players checked.

The {3-Diamonds} fell on the river and Karlic bet 3,750,000. After some consideration, Schillhabel shoved for what looked like about 7,000,000. Karlic called and Schillhabel instantly tabled {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}. His set of aces was best, as Karlic tossed his hand into the muck and the dealer pushed the massive pot Schillhabel's way. He is now the chip leader and the only player with a stack over the 20,000,000-chip mark.
