A total of 234 entries took to the felt in Day 1c of the $1,100 buy-in MILLIONS Open at the Caribbean Poker Party Festival, but only 140 bagged chips at the conclusion of play. Although no player in this starting flight bagged a bigger stack than Barny Boatman, who ended Day 1a with 7,415,000, partypoker Sponsored Pro Marcel Luske (2,741,000) sits among the top stacks on the list of Day 1c contenders. The top five are Darlin Nataniel Quezada Lagares (4,045,000), Vincent Tremblay (3,918,000), Harry Law (3,569,000), Florian Hoeller (3,375,000), and Glib Tremzin (3,359,000).

Quite a few other well-known players advanced to Day 2, including several of partypoker's finest. Partypoker Chairman Mike Sexton ended the day with 1,335,000, and partypoker Sponsored Pros Natalia Breviglieri (2,000,000) and Kristin Bicknell (969,000) will also return when Day 2 begins at noon on Sunday, as will team partypoker online pro Louise Butler (730,000). In addition, partypoker Head of Poker Tom Waters ended his day with 2,199,000. Other prominent players who bagged chips at the end of the night include Mike Leah (2,611,000), Mustapha Kanit (2,086,000), Donnacha O'Dea (1,900,000), Anthony Zinno (1,310,000), Kevin MacPhee (1,634,000), and Koray Aldemir (404,000).

Not all the familiar faces who tried their luck today were fortunate enough to bag chips. Jason Wheeler, Thai Ha, and John Duthie were among the fallen.

Day 1d began at 9:00 p.m. local time and late registration will remain open until the conclusion of level 12 on Day 2, so it's absolutely anybody's tournament.

Donnacha O'Dea was in middle position and heads-up against the player in the small blind. There were about 130,000 chips already in the middle and the board read {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{8-Spades}. The small blind checked, O'Dea bet 60,000, and the small blind called.

The turn brought the {4-Clubs} and both players checked.

The {K-Diamonds} fell on the river and the small blind bet 175,000. O'Dea shoved for 404,000, the small blind quickly called, and O'Dea instantly tabled {A-Spades}{10-Spades} for rivered Broadway. The small blind showed {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} for top two pair, so O'Dea took the pot to double up.

Kanit Felts a Foe

Mustapha Kanit

With a substantial pot of about 950,000 already brewing and the completed board reading {8-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} Mustapha Kanit shoved for what looked like 450,000 from middle position. His lone opponent, who was in the hijack, went into the tank. He eventually called and Kanit flipped over {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a rivered straight which was best against his opponent's {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}. After the dealer verified that Kanit had the larger of the two stacks, the pot was pushed his way.

With about 170,000 already in the middle and the board reading {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts} a player in middle position bet 75,000 and team partypoker online pro Louise Butler called from the cutoff.

The {9-Diamonds} fell on the river and Butler's opponent bet 300,000. After brief consideration, Butler called.

"Good call," her opponent said as he tabled {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Butler flipped over {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and took the pot.

Day 1c of the Caribbean Poker Party Festival $1,100 buy-in MILLIONS Open begins at noon local time at The Level at Melia Caribe Tropical in beautiful Punta Cana. There have been 133 entries thus far and Barny Boatman, having bagged a massive stack of 7,413,000 at the conclusion of Day 1a, leads the 73 survivors.

Play on Day 1c will consist of eight 60-minute levels with 20-minute breaks every two levels. There is no scheduled dinner break. Late entry and re-entry will be available until the start of level 12 on Day 2, which will begin at noon on Sunday.

It is noteworthy that the structure for each event in this tournament series utilizes button antes. Instead of each player at the table posting an ante every hand, the button posts the only ante at the table. From level 2 onward, the button ante is equal to the big blind. Blinds start at 2,500/5,000 with a 2,500-chip button ante.
