Money Bubble Bursts on Day 3; Abbas Moradi Leads Final 67

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Abbas Moradi
Abbas Moradi

Day 3 of the European Poker Tour Season 12 Prague Main Event – a tournament that attracted 1,044 players and created a prize pool of €5,063,400 – saw 218 players return to the Hilton Hotel on Sunday looking to make the top 151 and secure a payday.

After five 90-minute levels of play, the money bubble had burst and just 67 players were left in contention for the €921,540 first-place prize. The man best positioned to make a run at it is Canada's Abbas Moradi, who bagged the chip lead with 1.384 million.

Others who bagged big stacks were Preben Stokkan (1,175,000), Hossein Ensan (1,120,000), Vlado Banicevi (1,096,000), and Samuel Vousden (1,010,000).

Among those to fall early were Fabrice Soulier, David Vamplew, James Akenhead, EPT11 Malta champ Jean Montury, Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker, Team Online's Mickey Petersen, and EPT7 Prague champ Roberto Romanello.

Then in Level 17 (2,500/5,000/500), Spain's Jesus Muriel Gracia was automatically all in from the big blind for his last 5,000. Ukraine's Anton Sulymka called under the gun, and one by one the rest of the players got out of the way.

Gracia: {3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Sulymka: {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Gracia was behind but drawing to two live cards. The {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop was disaster for Gracia as Sulymka made a pair of tens. The {9-Clubs} turn sealed Gracia's fate, and he left empty handed in 152nd place, thus ensuring the remaining field at least €8,910 in prize money.

From there the in-the-money-finishes began to mount including those of Vitaly Lunkin (150th - €8,910), Rainer Kempe (144th - €8,910), who notched his third EPT Main Event cash in a row, Mike "Timex" McDonald (139th - €8,910), Team PokerStars Pros Johnny Lodden (117th - €10,280) and Matthias De Meulder (74th - €11,540), EPT11 Grand Final champ Adrian Mateos (81st - €11,540), and Bryan Paris (79th - €11,540), who suffered a particularly bad beat to bust.

It happened in the last level of the night when preflop raising war resulted in Paris getting his stack of 325,000 all in way ahead of the start-of-the-day chip leader, Gleb Tremzin.

Tremzin: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Paris: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Paris was a huge favorite, but the {8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop gave Tremzin a huge heart sweat. The {k-Clubs} turn wasn't what he was looking for — though it gave him two more outs — but the {6-Hearts} river was!

Among those to advance to Day 4 are Sebastian Gohr (868,000), Niall Farrell (828,000), Sam Chartier (817,000), Gavin O'Rourke (634,000), Iaron Lightbourne (550,000), Kitty Kuo (340,000), and the last Team PokerStars Pro in the field, Ivan Demidov (157,000).

Day 4 will kick off at Noon local time on Monday with the plan of playing down to the final 16 or to the end of Level 24, whichever comes faster. In addition the €10,000 High Roller will begin at 12:30 p.m. local time. The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to capture the action from both events, so be sure to join us then. While you wait, check out this video to find out Jaime Staples' most awkward moment on Twitch.

Tjauw Foe Suffers a Big Bad Beat

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Clyde Tjauw Foe
Clyde Tjauw Foe

Action folded to Clyde Tjauw Foe in the small blind and he opened for 19,000. His neighbor Slaven Popov made the call from the big blind.

The flop came {6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Tjauw Foe made a bet of 21,000. Popov called in position.

The {7-Spades} fell on the turn and Tjauw Foe gently tapped the table. Popov made a bet of 32,000 and Tjauw Foe thought about it for some time. He grabbed 32,000 and just mili seconds before he made the call, he grabbed two 25,000 chips and raised to 82,000 total.

Popov tanked for quite some time and eventually shoved all in for 322,000 total. Tjauw Foe set the record for the fastest call ever.

Clyde Tjauw Foe: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Slaven Popov: {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Tjauw Foe was in good position to eliminate his opponent and just about double up, but fate had a different plan: {10-Hearts} on the river. Tjauw Foe angrily cut out 322,000 and moved them left. The Dutchman himself has about 70,000 left.

Bad Beat Sends Paris to the Rail

"All in and a call," a dealer called.

We made our way over to discover a preflop raising war resulted in Bryan Paris getting his stack of 325,000 all in way ahead of the start-of-the-day chip leader, Gleb Tremzin.

Tremzin: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Paris: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Paris slapped his fist down on the table, clearly frustrated by the bad beat.

Visser Falls To Vousden

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Ruben Visser
Ruben Visser

Former EPT London winner Ruben Visser has been knocked out, and he told us what happened.

"I raised to 75,000," Visser laughed, as he committed most of his chips without shoving all in.

Samuel Vousden was the only caller of Visser's big raise, and the flop brought out {K-}{6-}{10-}.

Visser moved all in for his last 55,000 chips or so, and Vousden called.

Visser: {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Vousden: {J-}{J-}

The turn was the {10-} and the river the {9-}, sending the Dutchman home in 77th place for €11,540.

Miller The Millionaire

Nível 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Ori Miller
Ori Miller

Ori Miller has given himself a realistic shot at the €921,540 first place prize here in the European Poker Tour Prague Main Event, although Lady Luck played a major role in his meteoric rise to one million chips.

Miller came out best of a three-way all-in involving Elena Stover and Adrien Mateos despite getting his chips in with the second best hand.

Mateos, winner of the 2013 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, was all-in with {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, Stover the {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Miller needing some help from the board as he held {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. Help did arrive in the shape of a queen on the {6-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop, improving him to a set. The {4-Diamonds} turn meant Mateos was eliminated and he stood from his seat, and when the {8-Spades} landed on the turn, Stover’s tournament also ended.

Another Huge Pot On Table One

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Ka Kwan Lau
Ka Kwan Lau

A million chip pot was just played over on table one when Simon Persson bluffed in to the two pair of Vlado Banicevic (link), and just now another huge pot went down on the table in the far left corner of the room.

PokerStars Team Pro Ivan Demidov opened under the gun and Vlado Banicevic and Ka Kwan Lau called before Samuel Vousden over called from the big blind.

Vousden lead out for about half the pot on {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} and just Lau made the call. Lau called the half pot bet on the {9-Spades} turn as well and the {10-Clubs} completed the board. Vousden shoved all in and Lau instantly called for the 188,000 he had remaining.

Samuel Vousden: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Ka Kwan Lau: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Set over set, set Samuel Vousden back lots while Ka Kwan Lou doubled.

Persson Eliminated After Another Big Bluff

Nível 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Vlado Banicevic
Vlado Banicevic

Ka Kwan Lau opened before the flop from early position and Simon Persson made the call on the button. Vlado Banicevic in the big blind over called and the three took a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Banicevic checked and initial raiser Lau followed suit. Persson bet 28,000 and Banicevic check raised to 62,000. Ka Kwan Lau folded, Persson called.

The {8-Diamonds} hit the turn and Banicevic bet 77,000. Persson made the call.

The {7-Clubs} completed the board and Banicevic checked his option. Persson, who was the one five betting pre with ace-five yesterday against Chris Moneymaker, thought for a bit before he shoved all in for 216,000.

Banicevic tanked for quite some time and Persson called the clock after a little wile. As soon as the floor came over to start the one minute countdown, Banicevic instantly called.

Persson showed his {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} with a disappointed face. Banicevic tabled {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and cheered.

"Nice hand" Persson said, "Good luck everyone."

Walker Wears Out Wigg

Nível 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Anton Wigg
Anton Wigg

Anton Wigg, who had been nursing a short stack, managed a double when his {a-}{5-} held against an opponent's {q-}{6-}. Unfortunately for him, his momentum was short lived.

That's because he got those chips in a couple hands later and found himself dominated by Chris Walker.

Walker: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Wigg: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Wigg's best bet of winning was to catch a jack, but that proved easier said than done as one failed to appear on the {2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} board.

Wigg took his leave in 133rd place, good for €9,220.

No Third Final Table for Rainer Kempe

Rainer Kempe
Rainer Kempe

Rainer Kempe made both the final table in this European Poker Tour season's Barcelona stop (5th for €320,400) and Malta stop (5th for €160,340) but won't be making it back to back to back here in Prague.

He was severely crippled on the bubble and commited his last chips from the hijack over an under the gun raise by Vyacheslav Stoyanov. Made the call and put Rainer at risk.

Rainer Kempe: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Vyacheslav Stoyanov: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Kempe made his exit. After winning the €25,500 Single-Day High Roller for €539,000 earlier this week, Kempe has to settle for a min cash in the Main Event.
