McLaren parked outside the Monte-Carlo® Casino

Welcome to Day 3 of the 2014 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final Main Event. Today 123 players will return to action for five 90-minute levels of play. During that time the money will be reached. The top 95 players will take home a portion of the €6.5 million prize pool that was created by the 650-player field.

The man best positioned to make a run at the €1.24 million first-place prize is none other than Vladimir Troyanovskiy, who bagged up 450,500 on Day 2. However, he faces some stiff competition in Steven Silverman (369,900), Talal Shakerchi (365,800), Nick Maimone (358,800), Day 1b chip leader Hendrik Latz (278,400), Philipp Gruissem (268,000), Dani Stern (256,100), Sam Trickett (237,000), Ole Schemion (233,600), and Scott Clements (229,700).

Likewise, members of Team PokerStars that are still in the running are Johnny Lodden (326,500), Ville Wahlbeck (265,100), Angel Guillen (175,400), David Williams (145,900), and Andre Akkari (82,100).

Action is set to kick off at Noon local time here in the Salles des Etoiles room at Le Sporting. That is just a half hour from now, so stay tuned for all the latest and greatest Day 3 action!

Congrats to David Dayan, Winner of the €5,000 NL Turbo

Nível 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

According to PokerStars, David Dayan has got a lucrative habit on the go – winning the EPT Grand Final €5k NL Turbo event. Dayan took down this the tournament for €84,400 just a year after winning the same event in Season 9 for €64,600. Dayan already has nearly €300,000 in live tournament winnings and four of his six recorded live cashes are wins, including the LAPT Sao Paolo High Roller and a $1,000 side event at LAPT Punta del Este.

There were 58 entrants in this year's tournament, and most of the tables looked more like Day 1 of the Super High Roller than a €5K, with players such as Ole Schemion, Jonathan Duhamel, Chistoph Vogelsang and Paul Newey all taking part. As it turns out, none of the Super High Roller players cashed, but Dayan still faced a tough final table, up against the likes of EPT Prague runner-up Georgios Sotiropoulos, Full Tilt Poker Ambassador Jonathan Karamalikis, EPT regular Yann Dion, Aussie Millions champ Ami Barer and EPT Grand Final winner Nicolas Chouity. The prize pool was €281,300 divvied up amongst the eight finalists.

Dominik Panka Eliminated By Christoph Vogelsang

Nível 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

In the first hand of the day we saw Christoph Vogelsang open under the gun for 6,000, a min raise. Two positions down it was PokerStars sponsored player Dominik Panka who shoved his 55,800 stack to the middle. The hijack hadn't arrived yet, and all other players folded to Vogelsang. The German High Roller made the call and the first show down of the day was there.

Christoph Vogelsang: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Dominik Panka: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

The flop came ace-king high and the two remaining eights wouldn't appear: {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}.

"Good game" said Vogelsang. "Yeah good game" replied Panka with a smile, and the entire table started laughing. With just one hand played for the day, it wasn't all that good a game for Panka today.

Banwari Keeps Wahlbeck’s Chips Warm

Nível 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Ville Wahlbeck had just lost a smallish pot to Narendra Banwari blind on blind in a limped pot, but now he had position on the button and opened for 7,500. Banwari was in the small blind and three-bet to 20,000. When the big blind folded Wahlbeck made the call.

The flop of {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} saw both players check to see a turn card {3-Diamonds}. Check from Banwari and a bet of 21,000 from Wahlbeck saw Banwari fold and some of those chips return to Wahlbeck’s stack.
