The third and final starting flight for the 2014 Aussie Millions Main Event is set to kickoff in a half hour at Crown Casino in Melbourne, Casino. The first two flights attracted a total of 329 players, and the tournament staff expects the field size to nearly double after today.
Among the projected Day 1c entrants are all of the finalists from the $25,000 Challenge, including the five players who chopped - Max Altergott, Scott Seiver, Dan Smith, Martin Jacobson, and Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier.
On Day 1b, Mervin "The Cat" Chan, the 2013 Aussie Millions Main Event winner, was eliminated. This means that there will be a new champion crowned in 2014 - perhaps that person will be taking their seat for the first time today.
The plan is to play another seven 90-minute levels, with a 15-minute break after every level and a 75-minute dinner break after Level 4. The cards will be in the air shortly, so be sure to stay tuned for up-to-the-minute updates straight from the tournament floor.

Sam Cohen has had a bit of luck here in Melbourne. Last year she finished eighth in this very event for AU$120,000, and this year she's primed to make another deep run after doubling on just the third hand of the day.
A giddy Cohen recently stopped by our media desk to tell us the good news. According to her a player had opened for 225 preflop, another player three-bet to 750, and she called from the big blind with the . The original raiser came along, and then the dealer put out the flop... . Cohen had flopped the nuts, there was some action, and then the was put out on the turn.
Cohen checked, the original raiser bet 3,000, and the other player called. Cohen had some history with the bettor, so she took advantage of her image by jamming her entire stack of 27,000 or so. Sure enough, he made the call while the other player folded.
Cohen's opponent had also flopped a flush, and was actually drawing live to a straight flush. Fortunately for Cohen, the river was safe and she scored the elimination while simultaneously doubling her stack.

Two giants in poker, Phil Ivey and Viktor Blom, have just arrived for the third and final flight of the 2014 Aussie Millions Main Event.
For Ivey, this is his first major tournament appearance in roughly three months. He was last seen at the 2013 World Series of Poker Europe, and has spent the last quarter of a year enjoying his time in Cabo, Mexico and preparing for the launch of his much-anticipated "Ivey League."
Ivey has had tons of success down under, winning his ninth WSOP gold bracelet at APAC last year, the $250,000 Challenge in 2012, and finishing runner-up in the $100,000 Challenge in 2011.
Blom has never cashed in an event on Australian soil - and only cashed in one event in 2013 - but when one of the most feared online cash game players walks into a room, players and fans take notice.
